The Saskatchewan Crop Organizations

SaskCrops is a collaboration between five of Saskatchewan’s crop commissions: SaskBarley, Sask Oats, SaskOilseeds, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, and Sask Wheat.

Saskatchewan Barley Commission

The Saskatchewan Barley Development Commission (SaskBarley) is a producer-led organization representing barley growers across Saskatchewan. Funded through a levy check-off, SaskBarley invests in research, market development, and extension to support a profitable, competitive, and sustainable barley industry. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives like BarleyBin.ca, SaskBarley works to connect producers with practical information, advance innovation, and strengthen market opportunities for Saskatchewan barley at home and abroad.

Saskatchewan Oat Development Commission

The Saskatchewan Oat Development Commission (SaskOats) was established by the provincial government in 2006 to begin collecting a 50 cents per tonne levy on all Saskatchewan-grown oats marketed commercially. SaskOats uses the producer funds for oat research and market development to enhance the profitability of oats for growers and increase its value to the customer. The strategic priorities of SaskOats include research, market development; advocacy; building partnerships; and communication with oat growers, consumers, the oat industry, and governments.

Saskatchewan Oilseeds Development Commission

SaskOilseeds is a producer-governed organization that represents and is fully funded by approximately 20,000 oilseed growers in Saskatchewan. The Commission allocates levy dollars to strategic priorities including research, advocacy, and market development in support of a competitive and sustainable oilseed sector.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers is a not-for-profit organization representing and supporting approximately 15,000 pulse crop growers in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan Pulse Grower’s mandate is to provide leadership for a profitable Saskatchewan pulse industry through research, market development, and communications. Accountable to and funded by growers, Saskatchewan Pulse Grower's strategic direction is guided by a seven-member, producer-elected Board of Directors.

Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission

The Saskatchewan Wheat Development Commission (Sask Wheat) was established in June 2013. The Commission, under the direction of its elected board of wheat producers, ensures Saskatchewan’s wheat and winter cereals farmers have the resources, leadership and representation to strengthen Saskatchewan’s competitive advantage and ensure the interests of Saskatchewan’s farmers are protected. Check-off dollars administered by the Commission go towards research, advocacy, market development and producer communications and extension initiatives which improve varieties, grow the marketability of wheat and winter cereals, and provide higher value to producers.
